Concerts for Families

phil to discover - with the Ode to Joy

About the Concert

"Joy, beautiful spark of the gods!" What a grandiose text Beethoven set to music in the finale of his symphony. For many music lovers, the work is part of the regular New Year's Eve or New Year's programme; however, the festive verses written by Friedrich Schiller can also be heard on the radio as the "European anthem" at midnight. So it's no wonder that our earth girl Phili wants to know exactly what the symphony and the spark of the gods are all about. Malte and Andrew Manze are guaranteed to provide some good and entertaining answers. One thing is already certain: at the end of the concert we will sing together accompanied by the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra!
