The Grammy-winning pianist and composer Brad Mehldau has long been bridging musical worlds and shaping modern jazz with interpretations that combine intellect, emotion, and structure. Kirill Gerstein, who feels equally at home in classical music as in jazz, is appreciated for his dynamic musicality and curiosity, connecting different musical voices with insight and imagination. Their collaboration arose from a shared fascination with the space between composition and improvisation. In this concert, they are already setting the first accent of our Beethoven focus for his 200th anniversary in 2027. Our Artist in Residence Kirill Gerstein has a particularly close connection to him: "My exploration of the written and the improvised in music takes its starting point from Beethoven's spirit."A dialogue of jazz and classical,
