About the Concert

Tickets for this event will be available from 12.06.2024 from 10 am.

Three choirs, three soloists and a large orchestra when Benjamin Britten's "War Requiem" was premiered in 1962, it was a powerful reminder of the devastating destruction of Coventry during the Second World War, which also claimed the English city's cathedral as a victim. Today, like Dresden's Frauenkirche, it stands for the horrors of war and destruction as well as for new beginnings, hope and peace. And even more than sixty years after its composition and exactly 85 years after the destruction of Dresden, this music is still deeply moving with its drama, richness and harrowing abyss.
