Traditionally, it is more associated with folk music: as the instrument of the year 2026, the accordion finally comes into the spotlight of the classical audience. Rightly so, as it is much more than a hefty bellows! As a "machine with a soul" — an instrument with mechanical parts and simultaneously a "breathable centre," it is described by Dobrinka Tabakova, the composer of the accordion concerto "Sublime Dreams of Living Machines." It cleverly combines emotional directness, sonic sophistication, and contemporary reflection on humanity and technology. Janáček's opera "The Cunning Little Vixen" is also more than it seems at first glance, namely not a harmless animal tale, but a parable on the imperfection of humanity. In contrast, Mozart's "Prague" Symphony appears completely carefree, having soon become a favourite piece of the audience after its premiere in 1887 in Prague.Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
