About the Concert

A silver rose and a great deal of rapture. This music blossoms with grand gestures and exudes a wonderful summer freshness and the splendour of the Viennese waltz in the cold season. Almost 114 years ago, "Der Rosenkavalier" had its world premiere in Dresden. Today, we go on a journey of discovery through the orchestra: how did Richard Strauss manage to create such enchanting sounds? Meanwhile, Phili searches for the "Woman without a Shadow" and finds music that is full of images and great moments. On this day, the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra will be playing with a very large line-up of almost 100 musicians. It could be an unforgettable sound experience.

Biographies

Kerem Hasan

Kerem Hasan is considered one of the most exciting young conductors from Great Britain. From 2019 to 2023, he was chief conductor of the Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck. His most recent successes include opera performances at English National Opera ("Carmen", "Così fan tutte"), Glyndebourne ("Die Zauberflöte") and the Tiroler Landestheater ("Samson et Dalila", "Rigoletto", "The Rape of Lucretia", "La Traviata"). He has also conducted countless concerts in Europe, North America and Japan.

Victoria Esper

Victoria Esper brings the meerkat Phili to life with her voice at our family concerts. She enjoys stimulating the children's imagination and, together with Malte Arkona and the Dresden Philharmonic, contributing to a lively music education.

Concept

Michael Kube is a passionate music educator. Since the 2015/16 season, he has been organizing school concerts and family concerts in the Dresden Philharmonic's "phil zu entdecken" series.
