Program
Joseph Haydn
Symphony No. 101 in D major "The Clock"
Gustav Mahler
Symphony No. 5 in C sharp minor
"The Fifth is a cursed work. No-one can get hold of it," wrote Gustav Mahler in his diary. Today, it is one of his most popular and best-known symphonies. This is certainly also due to the fact that Visconti used its slow movement in his film "Death in Venice". And at the latest since the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra recorded this music with Cate Blanchett for the film TÁR, it has become one of the classics of late Romantic symphonic music for many. Chief conductor Sir Donald Runnicles has chosen Haydn's "Clock Symphony" for the film. A witty piece of music in which the ticking of a clock can actually be heard.
Tickets for this event will be available from 12.06.2024.
