Birgit Minichmayr, born in Linz in 1977, received her acting training at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. During her studies, she was already engaged at the Vienna Burgtheater. After a Castorf production at the Ruhrfestspiele in Recklinghausen, she joined Castorf at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin in 2004. In 2007, she returned to the Burgtheater before moving to the Munich Residenztheater in 2011. Birgit Minichmayr has been a permanent member of the Burgtheater ensemble again since the 2019/20 season.
The multi-award-winning actress, including the Ulrich Wildgruber Prize, the Nestroy Theater Prize and the Silver Bear at the Berlinale, can also be seen in numerous films and TV productions.
In addition to her acting career, she has established herself as a jazz and chanson singer, as music has always played an important role in her life. In 2021, she released her solo album “As an Unperfect Actor – Nine Shakespeare Sonnets”.
