Bruno Borralhinho is a member of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and artistic director of the Ensemble Mediterrain. His active and broad artistic activities also include frequent solo and chamber music concerts. His unanimously acclaimed interpretation of Bach's six suites for cello on the Montagnana cello "Suggia" in June 2008, for example, deserves special mention. In 2012, together with pianist Christoph Berner, he performed all of Beethoven's works for cello and piano on the Stradivarius "King of Portugal" in Lisbon. As a soloist, he has performed with the Gulbenkian Orchestra Lisbon, the Orquestra Metropolitana da Lisboa, the Orquestra do Algarve and the Orquestra de Camara Portuguesa, among others. In 2014, Bruno Borralhinho performed all Haydn concertos with the Orquestra Clássical do Sul (Portugal), among others. He has won numerous competitions, such as first prize in the international competition "Concurso Julio Cardona" and first prize in the "Prémio Jovens Músicos" (Portugal).
Bruno Borralhinho studied with Prof. Markus Nyikos at the Berlin University of the Arts from 2000 to 2006.
In 2004 he completed his artistic diploma and in 2006 his concert exam with distinction.
He then studied with Truls Mørk in Oslo and attended master classes with N. Gutman, A. Meneses, P. Wispelwey, A. Bylsma, J. Wang, M. Ostertag, M. Löhr, M. Carneiro and T. Demenga, among others. He also obtained a Master's degree in Cultural Management at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Barcelona) in 2011.
He was a member of the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra and solo cellist in the Jeunesses Musicales World Youth Orchestra. In 2003 he was a trainee in the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and from 2004 to 2006 a member of the Orchestra Academy of the Staatskapelle Berlin.
