The German baritone Michael Kupfer-Radecky is in demand internationally and was able to cause a sensation, especially in the Wagner field. He stepped in at the last minute in the Bayreuth Festival in the premiere of WALKÜRE in the third act as Wotan in the summer of 2022 and had his successful debut as Gunther in GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG.
Recent engagements include Pizarro / LEONORE at the Dresden Festival, Wotan in a new production of WALKÜRE in Oldenburg, Pizarro in a new production (director: Katharina Wagner) of FIDELIO at the New National Theater in Tokyo, Hans Sachs at the Australian Opera in Melbourne, Pizarro / FIDELIO at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden as well as the title role in a new production of THE FLYING DUTCHMAN in Mannheim.
In 2017 Michael had his successful debut at La Scala in Milan with Hans Sachs / MEISTERSINGER. In 2016 he performed this role at the Opéra de Paris/Bastille, in 2018 at the Munich State Opera and then in Melbourne.
Already in November 2016, Michael Kupfer-Radecky presented himself as WALKÜRE-Wotan at the Budapest State Opera, after having sung RHEINGOLD-Wotan on various occasions. Already in November 2016, the artist presented himself at the Royal Opera in Stockholm and in January 2017 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as "Jochanaan" in SALOME, as Pizarro / LEONORE at the Dresden Festival and also as Pizarro in a new production (director: Katharina Wagner) of FIDELIO at the New National Theater in Tokyo and as Hans Sachs at the Australian Opera in Melbourne.
