Portuguese conductor Miguel Sepúlveda has been the joint winner of the International Conducting Competition Rotterdam 2025. The 2026/27 season sees him return to the Rotterdam Philharmonic, Dresdner Philharmonie, BBC Philharmonic and Gulbenkian Orchestra, and debut with the Antwerp Symphony, Tampere Philharmonic, Symphoniker Hamburg, Staatsorchester Stuttgart, Phion Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica del Principado de Asturias, Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona and Orquesta Nacional de España.
Highlights of the last two seasons have included concerts with the LA Philharmonic, Gävle Symphony, Münchener Kammerorchester, Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester and Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa. Miguel also won the Grand Prix, Opera and Contemporary prizes at the International Conducting Competition 2025 which resulted in his Concertgebouw debut with Rotterdam Philharmonic that summer.
Born in Lisbon in 1998, Miguel Sepúlveda studied under Jean Marc Burfin and finished his Master's degree at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). His time in the UK also saw him work with the BBC Scottish Symphony, BBC Philharmonic and Manchester Camerata. He was a semi-finalist at the 2024 Malko Conducting Competition, an LA Phil Dudamel Fellow during the 2025/26 season and the inaugural Dresdner Philharmonie Runnicles Fellow from 2024 to 2026.
