Since the 2017/18 season, the Kurt Masur Academy has offered talented young musicians from Germany and abroad the opportunity to prepare for their future careers within a top orchestra steeped in tradition. Through their participation in the intensive rehearsals, concerts, tours and CD productions of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, the academy members get to know the special playing culture and the sound ideal of the orchestra of excellence. At the same time, they study on the four-semester Master's programme "Music with a focus on orchestral practice" at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music Dresden and receive individual instrumental tuition from musicians of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, who usually teach there. In addition to regular performances with the orchestra, the academy members also present their skills several times a year in the Kurt Masur Academy's own chamber concerts.
