Moritz Pettke, born in Erfurt in 1996, has been playing the clarinet since the age of seven. He won prizes at various competitions as a youngster. From 2011 to 2015, he attended the special branch of music at the Landesschule Pforta.
He studied with Harald Harrer at the Leopold Mozart Center of the University of Augsburg and at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar in the class of Thorsten Johanns. In 2017, Moritz Pettke became an academist for bass clarinet/clarinet at the Erfurt Theater. During this time, his interest in the lower instruments of the clarinet family grew, and from October 2019 he was able to specialize further in the Giuseppe Sinopoli Academy of the Staatskapelle Dresden. Moritz Pettke has been principal bass clarinettist of the Staatskapelle Dresden since August 2021.
He is also interested in chamber music and music of the 20th century.
