Petra Schmidt-Schaller is known to film and television audiences – whether as a former Hamburg "Tatort" detective alongside Wotan Wilke-Möhring, in countless award-winning films such as Isolde Wagner in "Der Wagner-Clan", "Das geteilte Glück" (The Divided Happiness), "Wendezeit" (Time of Change), in the lead role of Lona Mendt in the crime miniseries "Die Toten von Marnow" (The Dead of Marnow) or in the current ARD film "Polizei" (Police).
Alongside her father Andreas Schmidt-Schaller, she early played a role in the series "Soko Leipzig" and thus worked in the city where she also completed her acting studies. Born in Magdeburg, she now lives with her daughter in Berlin, has received many film awards for her performances in German films, and can already look back on countless productions in film, television, and theater. Petra Schmidt-Schaller also works as an audiobook narrator.
Together with her colleague Ulrich Noethen, with whom she appears on stage in Dresden in December 2025 and 2026 in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", she has already played leading roles in films such as "Ein fliehendes Pferd" (A Fleeing Horse) and "Ich will dich" (I Want You).
