Philharmonisches Kammerorchester

The Dresden Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra is one of the most traditional chamber ensembles in Dresden. Founded by Dresden Philharmonic musicians in 1969, it has since found a firm place in the musical life of the city and beyond. Its artistic profile has been significantly characterised by the Dresden Collum Concerts, the Zwinger Serenades at the Dresden Music Festival and later by the reconstruction concerts for the Dresden Frauenkirche. "Valuing tradition and being open to the new" - this is the motto under which the ensemble, which has been led by concertmaster Wolfgang Hentrich since 2002, organises its diverse concerts. The joy of music-making, a special sense of sound and imaginative programme design delight audiences at the "Dresden Evenings" in the Hygiene Museum, the "Meißner-Schlösser Summer Concerts" and the regular performances with the Dresdner Kreuzchor. There have also been extraordinarily successful concerts with the London and Bern Bach Choirs, Marek Janowski, Rudolf Buchbinder, Ludwig Güttler, Hakan Hardenberger, Andreas Scholl, Peter Bruns, Vadim Gluzman, Ivan Ženatý and Kolja Lessing, among others. Numerous performances at home and abroad as well as invitations to festivals bear witness to the orchestra's outstanding reputation. The Dresden Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra is also particularly committed to programmes for children and young people.
