Philipp Hösli was born in Zurich in 1990 and received his first bassoon lessons from his father at the age of 11.
He began his studies in 2009 at the Zurich University of the Arts with Matthias Racz, followed by a master's degree with Giorgio Mandolesi and a master class degree with Prof. Jörg Thomé at the HMT Leipzig.
During his studies he was awarded several prizes, among others by "Migros Kulturprozent", the "Concours National d'Exécution Musicale de Riddes" and the Friedl-Wald Foundation Basel.
During his master class studies at the HMT Leipzig, Philipp Hösli played as a substitute with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra. This was followed by the academy at the Zurich Opera House from 2016 - 2018. Subsequently, he was permanently employed as principal contrabassoonist with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra from 2018-2023. Since August 2023, he has held the position of 2nd bassoon with commitment to the contrabassoon at the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra.
As a substitute, he regularly plays in leading orchestras such as the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin and the HR Symphony Orchestra Frankfurt.
