The actor Roman Knižka was born in Bautzen in 1970, the son of a female singer and a male dancer and choreographer. He initially trained as a theatre carpenter at the Semperoper in Dresden and left the GDR shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall via the Green Border.
After studying at the Westfälische Schauspielschule in Bochum, he initially performed at the local Schauspielhaus and then began to make a name for himself as a character actor in a wide range of TV dramas, romantic films, "Tatort" episodes and various productions for cinema and streaming services.
In addition, he regularly narrates audiobooks and enjoys great success on stage across Germany, not least with the wind quintet OPUS45, with whom he is breaking new, interdisciplinary ground, including in musical readings. His distinctive, versatile and engaging voice captivates both children and adults alike.
