At the age of 17 Sarah Christ had the chance to play with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under Claudio Abbado and knew that she wanted to become a harpist.
After private lessons with Margit Anna Süss and Marie-Pierre Langlamet in Berlin, she studied first in Detmold with Catherine Michel, then in Lyon with Fabrice Pierre and finally with the master class diploma in Munich with Helga Storck.
In 2004 Sarah Christ received a scholarship from the "Konzerte Junger Künstler" of the German Music Council as well as 1st prize at the international competition of the "Bund der Deutschen Industrie" in duo with her brother Raphael Christ (violin).
At the age of 21 Sarah Christ was already engaged at the Vienna State Opera. After two years she decided to give up the position in order to devote herself more intensively to chamber music and her solo activities. Nevertheless, she continued to play in the most prestigious orchestras in Europe, such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Dresden Staatskapelle, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Staatskapelle, the Bavarian State Opera, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and others.
At the invitation of Claudio Abbado, she has been a harpist in the "Lucerne Festival Orchestra" founded by him since 2006.
Sarah Christ has performed chamber music at many renowned festivals, including the Lockenhaus Festival, Rheingau Festival, Edinburgh Festival and has performed at Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Berlin Philharmonie and Semperoper with renowned artists such as Emanuel Pahud, Albrecht Mayer, Karl-Heinz Schütz, Henrik Wiese, Jan Vogler.
Sarah Christ also devotes herself intensively to the arrangement of various piano works for harp and has performed with Matthias Goerne on several occasions, including at the Wigmore Hall in London, or at the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg with songs by Schubert.
As a soloist, Sarah Christ has performed with the Dresden Kapellsolisten, the Munich Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Prague Opera Orchestra and the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra, among others.
As a lecturer Sarah Christ was active in the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, in the Summer Academy of the German National Academic Foundation, at the Orchestra Center Dortmund, in the MCO Academy and gave a master class at the University of Graz.
In 2006, Cavalli Records released her solo CD "La Passione per l'opera", in 2013 Harmonia Mundi released the duo CD "Méditations" with Céline Moinet (oboe), and in 2018 Sony Classical released "Goldbergvariationen" in an arrangement for septet.
