Xiang Li

The Chinese soprano Xiang Li, born in 2000, is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Concert Performance and attending the Opera Masterclass at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music in Dresden under Prof. Yamina Maamar, as well as the Lied class taught by KS Prof. Olaf Bär. She previously successfully completed her Bachelor’s degree at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music in China.

 

Xiang Li gained her first significant stage experience whilst still a student. She appeared, among other roles, as Sandrina in Mozart’s “La finta giardiniera” at the Staatsschauspiel Dresden and as the Sugar Plum Fairy in “Hansel and Gretel” at the Landesbühnen Sachsen. In the 2025/26 season, she will once again make a guest appearance at the Landesbühnen Sachsen as the First Boy in “The Magic Flute”. Furthermore, in October 2026, she will take to the stage as the Sparrow in the children’s opera “Brundibár” at the Kulturpalast Dresden.

 

Alongside her opera work, she is a sought-after concert singer. Among her most recent successes is the soprano solo in Bach’s Cantata BWV 172 at the Kreuzkirche in Dresden. At the end of May 2026, she also took on the demanding soprano solo in Anton Webern’s “1st Cantata” at the Dresden University of Music under the musical direction of Prof. Ekkehard Klemm.

 

Xiang Li has won numerous competitions. She was a finalist at the 1st International Mozart Singing Competition in Bad Hall and at the Valerio Gentile Singing Competition in Bari. In 2024, she was awarded the City of Torgau Prize at the International Saxon Singers’ Academy. In 2026, she also received a scholarship from the renowned Giovanni Omodeo Foundation. Her wide-ranging repertoire spans from Baroque to contemporary music.
