The Dresden Philharmonic goes Gold

1915 -1923

Edwin Lindner ‘buys’ the ‘Gewerbehausorchester’ and founds the ‘Dresdner Philharmonisches Orchester’ as a successor company, which stabilises the orchestra.

Lindner engages 64 musicians and increases the number of musicians to 80. With a larger orchestra, it is now also possible to perform works by Reger, Strauss, Mahler, Berlioz and Bruckner. The orchestra makes a leap in quality.

A woman joins the ensemble for the first time: Eva Hagen on the harp.
