Schools

The Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra offers a variety of projects for school students. Listening, discovering and participating are the order of the day - whether during a visit to the orchestra's rehearsals, workshops on the world of sound, visits by musicians in the classroom, special guided tours or concerts for school classes...

Concerts for school classes

There is always something special in the morning concerts, which are free of charge for school classes: The Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra perform famous works of orchestral literature in moderated concerts for all grades. Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" and Prokoffiev's "Peter and the Wolf" are among them, as are Ludwig van Beethoven's 5th Symphony, Antonio Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" and the classic among orchestra guides for young people: Benjamin Britten's "The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra". The Philharmonic Children's Choir and the Orchestra of the Saxon State High School of Music will enrich the program with their own programs. In addition, the new concert organ with all its stops and sounds will be heard in a joint concert of the Dresden Youth Symphony Orchestra at the Heinrich Schütz Conservatory reinforced by members of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra.

Rehearsal visits

The Dresden Philharmonic invites school classes to attend rehearsals. Framed by an introduction and, if possible, an encounter with members of the orchestra, conductors or soloists, the students experience professional concert preparation in the concert hall of the Kulturpalast.

The exact program of rehearsals will be announced at short notice.

Times:
09.15 - 10.45 or
11.00 - 12.30

Participation is free of charge.

For rehearsal visits, registration is required no later than eight weeks before the respective date. Due to limited seating capacity, there is no right to book a date. The binding booking is made only after confirmation by the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra.

Musicians visit schools

Instrument presentation and a small concert

A classroom and a lesson - that's all it takes for this step in music education! Dresden Philharmonic musicians visit interested classes, present their instruments, and make music for and with the children. The planning of the school visits is flexible and depends on your possibilities. And in the school auditorium, students, teachers and parents can experience a "real concert".
Various chamber music formations of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra can be requested for such visits.
