Sustainability

The Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra is committed to sustainability in orchestral operations and has been working intensively for several years to make the Kulturpalast, the city's ‘living room’, more climate-friendly.

On this page you will find information on the ‘Culture for Future’ charter, an overview of our sustainability strategy from 2023 and the current sustainability index of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra.

Culture for Future

The Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra is committed to the ‘Culture for Future’ charter.

From 100 per cent green electricity and fair-trade products in the tea kitchens to orchestra travel by train instead of plane - the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra is active in a wide range of areas in order to use resources sparingly and provide art with a framework in which it has a future.

In January 2022, numerous cultural institutions in Dresden committed to sustainable action in the ‘Culture for Future’ charter. The Dresdner Philharmonie is leading the way and has already developed concrete plans.

Our sustainability strategy in overview

As part of the German Sustainability Code (DNK), we have published our first report on the sustainability efforts of the Dresdner Philharmonie for 2023.

The report is based on the 17 sustainability goals of the United Nations (SDGs for short) and covers aspects of social and societal sustainability in addition to environmental sustainability. Our energy accounting, which we have carried out for the entire Kulturpalast, has also been included in the report.

You can find the entire report here.
