About the Concert

Sister and brother, that's how you could call violin and cello. Because the two string instruments are related by the fact that they both have four strings and are played with a bow. Sister and brother are also the ones playing these two instruments in our concert. Charlotte and Friedrich Thiele come from a family of musicians in Dresden and have already had remarkable solo careers. In our short concert, they will perform a piece for violin, cello, and orchestra by Johannes Brahms, in which they showcase their love for the instrument and at the same time bring out the beauty of this masterpiece of Romanticism. At our abgeFRACKt concerts, some things are different: the orchestra does not wear tails on stage. Also, no one has to worry about clapping at the wrong time. If you want to learn more about the music, you can download the free Wolfgang app on your smartphone and receive explanations about the piece live during the concert. Afterwards, we invite you to stay and enjoy the abgeFRACKt cocktail (also non-alcoholic), a glass of wine or beer at the "Tutti" café, relax, chat, or look out over the city from the balcony. This concert, conducted by Aurel Dawidiuk, is supported by funding from the Forum Dirigieren concert promotion program - an initiative of the German Music Council - funded by the Gesellschaft zur Verwertung von Leistungsschutzrechten mbH (GVL).
