About the Concert

How would a painting sound if it were music? The Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky tried it out and the result was his famous "Pictures at an Exhibition". In a bustling market, the vendors are shouting, a limping gnome sneaks by, chirping chicks hatch from their eggshells and dance a ballet. Together with the orchestra and Malte Arkona, we also encounter the evil witch Baba Yaga, meet children playing in the park, visit an old castle, and pass through the Great Gate of Kiev. Biographies

Adam Hickox

The young Briton Adam Hickox conducts with an impressive, elegantly flowing technique and presents mature interpretations of a broad repertoire, as he did in his debut with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra. From 2019 to 2022, he was assistant conductor of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. In December 2023, following his successful debut at Glyndebourne Autumn Opera conducting Donizetti's "L'elisir d'amore", he was appointed Principal Conductor of the Glyndebourne Sinfonia.

Concept

Michael Kube is a passionate music educator. Since the 2015/16 season, he has been organizing school concerts and family concerts in the Dresden Philharmonic's "phil zu entdecken" series.
