About the Concert
Such a powerful piano concerto had not been heard before. When Johannes Brahms premiered his First Piano Concerto in 1859, the audience was thrilled. Few knew how many years he had struggled to complete it. Initially, he wanted to write a sonata for two pianos, but that failed. Then he reworked his ideas for an orchestra, but he was still not satisfied. Finally, the saving idea came to him: to combine the orchestra and piano. Today, the piece is considered one of the most beautiful offerings of romantic music. Prokofiev's suites for Shakespeare's famous love story are also the result of a reworking, transforming the music from a complete ballet to pure orchestral music. He personally selected the most beautiful passages for this purpose. The result is like dramatic cinema for the ears...

Emmanuel Tjeknavorian once began his career as a violinist, but he has since also made a name for himself as a conductor and has been Music Director of the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano since 2024. "Making music is like a second language for me", says says Francesco Piemontesi. And he speaks this language perfectly, his interpretations on the piano exude sensitivity, intimacy and poetry, but at the same time they have power and brilliance. The Swiss-Italian pianist has earned a reputation as one of the leading interpreters of the German classical and romantic repertoire, but his programs also include works from Johann Sebastian Bach to Unsuk Chin.
That is the claim of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra stands for concerts at the highest artistic level, musical education for all ages and looking beyond the musical horizon. Guest performances on almost every continent and collaborations with guests from all over the world have established the reputation of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra in the international classical music world.
