A Sunday, six short concerts: The Festival of Chamber Music places the musicians of the Dresden Philharmonic at the centre – this time not in the grand orchestral sound, but as dedicated chamber musicians in the most diverse ensembles. In six compact concerts of 45 minutes each, around 50 orchestra members showcase their artistic individuality, joy of playing, and closeness to the audience – from Brahms to Marsalis, from classical string culture to surprising constellations. With works by Schulhoff, a special connection to the history of the orchestra is established, and the most important Lithuanian composer, Ciurlionis, is introduced.
A special role is played by the lively collaboration with the support association: Jointly designed and moderated by Dr. Thomas de Maizière, Dr. Jan-Ole Joswig, and other members, personal insights and new perspectives on the music emerge. Thus, this festival combines virtuosity, a spirit of discovery, and dialogue into a concert experience that is both approachable and extraordinary.
