Melanie Bähr

The pianist Melanie Bähr, who was born in Lahr, studied piano at the Karlsruhe University of Music under Prof. Carmen Piazzini and Prof. Sontraud Speidel. She went on to study lieder with Prof. Mitsuko Shirai and Prof. Hartmut Höll in Karlsruhe, and chamber music with Prof. Angelika Merkle at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts.

Melanie Bähr is, amongst other things, the first national prize-winner at ‘Jugend musiziert’, a prize-winner at the German University Competition in the song duo category (2nd prize), and a prize-winner at other national and international competitions. In 2013, she and her duo partner, the flautist Kathrin Bäz, received a scholarship from the German Music Competition, following which the duo was accepted into the 58th National Selection of Concerts for Young Artists.

Melanie Bähr performs with various lieder and chamber music partners at festivals such as the Rheingau Music Festival and the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival, as well as in renowned concert series such as the Festeburgkonzerte in Frankfurt.

Since 2017, she has been working as a teacher at the Lahr Municipal Music School.
