About the Concert
Today we immerse ourselves in the world of ancient myths. But don't worry! It's not about fear and terror, but about the forest and the fields. A large piece of nature is making its way into the cultural palace - and in the midst of it all: the flute, with which many composers have told wonderful stories. Claude Debussy already wondered: What does a faun experience on an afternoon? And Gabriel Fauré wrote wonderfully melancholic melodies for the flute, which one may have heard somewhere before. But who are the nymph Syrinx and the Pan, who chases after her? Phili wants to know exactly - and Malte surely has the right answers once again.

Chief Conductor of the Dresdner Philharmonie from 25/26
Introducing Sir Donald Runnicles! More pictures & videos of our new Chief Conductor can be found here.
Sir Donald Runnicles will become Chief Conductor of the Dresden Philharmonic at the start of the 2025/26 season; he already serves as Chief Conductor Designate in 2024/25. The Scottish-born conductor is also GMD of the Deutsche Oper Berlin until mid-2026. He stands for the principle of quality over quantity and has built up close artistic relationships with renowned institutions worldwide. His expertise in the opera and concert repertoire is in demand everywhere, and the German repertoire is particularly close to his heart.
The presenter, actor and voice actor Malte Arkona is known to many viewers from television, but is also one of the most sought-after music educators in the German-speaking world. He has been a regular stage partner of the Dresden Philharmonic in this capacity for many years and has been presenting its new "Best of Classics" series, which he co-designed, since the 2024/25 season. He also directs video clips for the orchestra, in which he can also be seen himself.
Her main goal is to present musical education in a lively way and to inspire children in particular for the world of classical music: Victoria Esper often works as a speaker and presenter and helped develop the fantasy character Phili for the concert series “phil zu entdecken” for the Dresden Philharmonic. She has a degree in singing and has also worked as a cultural manager in recent years. In her free time, she is committed to social interaction and media literacy for children.
Michael Kube is a passionate music educator and has been conceiving the school and family concert series "phil zu entdecken" for the Dresden Philharmonic since the 2015/16 season. He also works as an editor and consultant, is a juror for the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik, and a university lecturer in music history, musicology and music education.
That is the claim of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra stands for concerts at the highest artistic level, musical education for all ages and looking beyond the musical horizon. Guest performances on almost every continent and collaborations with guests from all over the world have established the reputation of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra in the international classical music world.
