Cedric Gyger

Principal Percussion
in the orchestra since 2024

Cédric (1998) grew up in Schönried in the Bernese Oberland (Switzerland). From a young age of six, he developed a passion for percussion and received his first lessons from Jacques Hostettler. He completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education at the Zurich University of the Arts in 2024, studying with Raphael Christen, Klaus Schwärzler, and Benjamin Forster. Cédric has participated in various festivals, including the Davos Festival, Andermatt Classic Festival, and Gstaad Menuhin Festival. He won the Swiss Championship title once with timpani and three times with mallet instruments. In 2019, he won first prize in the East Swiss Student Competition and first prize at the International Marimba Competition in Italy. In 2019 and 2020, he received two study prizes in the Instrumental Music Competition of the Migros Culture Percentage, which also included concert promotion. Cédric was an Akademist with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra from 2022 to 2023 and regularly performs with various orchestras, including the Augsburg Philharmonic, Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, City Light Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg Symphony, and the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich.
