Johann Pätzold

Viola

Johann Pätzold was born in Dresden in 2000. He grew up in a musical home in Radebeul, where he received his first violin lessons at the age of four. At the age of 13, he switched to viola and a year later transferred to the 'Carl Maria von Weber' State High School of Music in Dresden. 


In 2019, he began his viola studies in the class of Erich Krüger and Ditte Leser at the Franz Liszt School of Music in Weimar. He gained his first professional experience as a substitute in the Staatskapelle Weimar and the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2024, he has been a member of the Kurt Masur Academy of the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra and is continuing his studies with Pauline Sachse and Neasa Ní Bhriain at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Academy of Music and Theater in Leipzig.
