Jonathan Debus received his first trumpet lessons at the age of 8 in Münster. He completed his bachelor's degree first at the Robert Schumann University in Düsseldorf with Prof. Peter Mönkediek, then at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt with Prof. Klaus Schuhwerk. He is currently studying for a master's degree with Prof. Björn Kadenbach at the Carl Maria von Weber Desden University of Music.
Orchestral playing is an elementary part of his life and so, at the age of 20, his first orchestral engagements took him as a substitute at the Dresden Philharmonic, as a permanent member of the Young German Philharmonic and as an intern at the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden. With temporary contracts and temporary engagements in Dresden, Wiesbaden, Frankfurt and Cologne, among others, he was able to gain much more experience in playing with an orchestra. In the 23/24 season he is employed on a temporary contract as second trumpeter at the Dresden Philharmonic.
