Pianist and organist Katharina Königsfeld, born in 1988 in Bamberg, discovered her passion for the piano and organ at the age of six. She studied both instruments as her main artistic subject with A. von Arnim and R. M. Stangier at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. In addition to the solo repertoire, she also focused on chamber music and song. She has received musical inspiration from Christoph Eschenbach, Ian Fountain, Dirk Mommertz, Grigory Gruszman, Lutz Brenner, Edgar Krapp and Erwan le Prado, among others.
Some of the highlights of her busy concert schedule include the Philharmonie Essen, the Konzerthaus Dortmund and the Jahrhunderthalle Bochum as part of the renowned Ruhr Piano Festival, and the Oratorio S. Caterina in Cervo, Italy. She has her own concert series at Burglechnern Castle, performs as a soloist with members of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, at the Erl Festival and is a regular guest on the MS Europa 2, among others.
She has been working closely with soprano Meike Albers since 2008. Together they have collaborated with great musicians such as Justus Zeyen, Jan Philip Schulze, Christoph Eschenbach and Matthias Goerne.
In 2015, she ventured to perform the world premiere of the piano transcription of Hans Rott's Symphony, which received standing ovations at the Festpielhaus Erl.
With violinist Marie Claudine Papadopoulos and cellist Alexandre Vay, she forms the trio KLASSIK3. Since 2017, Katharina has been working with the producer Bill Sathrum, writing film music with him, among other things. With the dubstep producer and drummer Affe Maria, she is exploring new musical possibilities, and she is a welcome guest on international stages with her program “Piano Fantasy”.
Katharina Königsfeld has been under exclusive contract with Sony Classical since 2014. In 2015, her debut album “Piano Fantasy by Katharina” was released by Sony Music and immediately entered the German pop charts at number 76.
In 2018, she took over the artistic direction of the International Organ Academy Kitzbühel.
