Krzysztof Urbański belongs to the most sought-a\er conductors of our Jme. From the 2024/25 season he holds the posts of Chief Conductor of the Berner Symphonieorchester and of Music and ArJsJc Director of the Warsaw Philharmonic. Highlights of his 2024/25 season furthermore include his returns to the Münchner Philharmoniker, Bayerisches Staatsorchester, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Dresdner Philharmonie, Bamberger Symphoniker and his debut with the Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra. At the Opernhaus Zürich he conducts a producJon of Ludwig van Beethoven’s "Fidelio".
Krzysztof Urbański appeared as a guest conductor with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Berliner Philharmoniker, Staatskapelle Dresden, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Orchestre de Paris, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic and the San Francisco Symphony, among others.
He served as Music Director of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra (2011-2021) and as Chief Conductor and ArJsJc Leader of the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra (2010-2017); in 2017 he was appointed Honorary Guest Conductor of this ensemble. He was Principal Guest Conductor of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra (2012-2016) and of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester (2015-2021). In November 2022 Krzysztof Urbański was appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana.
With the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester he recorded for Alpha Classics works of Lutosławski and Strauss, Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, Stravinsky’s "Rite of Spring", and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5. His discography also includes Chopin’s small pieces for piano and orchestra with Jan Lisiecki and the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra for Deutsche Grammophon – which received an ECHO Klassik Award – and Martinůs Cello Concerto No. 1 with Sol GabeYa and the Berliner Philharmoniker, recorded for Sony.
