Øystein Fevang

Øystein Fevang is a Norwegian conductor, singer and musician. He was born on 25 December 1963 in Horten and now lives in Oslo.
He has been chief conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic Choir since 2006 and has also conducted the Majorstua Chamber Choir since 2017. From 1996 to 2006, he also conducted the chamber choir Ensemble 96.

Fevang regularly holds seminars and teaches conducting and ensemble conducting at the Norwegian Academy of Music, the Barratt Dues Musical Institute and the University of Oslo
Øystein Fevang trained as a singer and conductor at the Østlandet Music Conservatory and the Norwegian Academy of Music and also studied singing with Oren Brown (New York) and conducting with Alexej Malij (Moscow). Fevang has been a soloist with several choirs and orchestras, including Gli Scapoli, the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Royal Naval Music Corps, the Royal 3rd Guards Company and the Oslo Philharmonic Choir.

In 2006, Fevang was nominated for a Grammy Award in the ‘Best Choral Performance’ category for the album ‘Immortal Nystedt’ with Ensemble 96, which was released on the 2L label. The album was also nominated in the category ‘Best Surround Album’. In 2007, Øystein Fevang received the Norwegian Korprisen (Choir Prize) together with Ensemble 96. This is the Norwegian Choral Association's award of honour, which is presented to conductors, choirs and composers who have made a significant contribution to the development of Norwegian choral music at national and international level.
