Philharmonischer Chor Oslo

The Oslo Philharmonic Choir was founded in 1921 and made its debut in 1922 with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra performing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony. Since then, the Philharmonic Choir has been the main vocal ensemble of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra under its current chief conductor Klaus Mäkelä, and consists of around 100 singers.

Øystein Fevang has been the artistic director of the Oslo Philharmonic Choir since 2006. Over the past ten years, the choir has participated in around 170 concerts with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra under some of the world's most renowned conductors. The choir has a very broad repertoire of choral-symphonic works and has also steadily developed its a-capella qualities under the direction of its conductor Øystein Fevang. The choir's recordings include ‘Gregorian Key’, ‘Edvard Grieg a cappella’ and ‘Julestemning’.

Today, the Oslo Philharmonic Choir is recognised by critics, audiences and guest conductors as one of the best Nordic choirs.
