About the Concert
The organ is an instrument that for many creates a sense of reverent silence in churches rather than enjoyable music. But in this concert, it shows how versatile and modern the organ can be! Poulenc was a French composer who liked to play with musical contrasts: sacred meets secular, serious meets playful. His concert begins almost like a meditation - dark and mysterious - and suddenly the music breaks into lively, almost dance-like rhythms. The other piece, just recently composed for the organ in the famous Royal Albert Hall in London, captivates the listeners. It is a journey through moods and sounds that showcases the organ at its most exciting. Lean back and let yourself be surprised - maybe today you will discover your new favorite instrument!

British conductor Nicholas Collon is recognized for his elegant conducting style, searching musical intellect and inspirational music-making. He has been Chief Conductor of the Finnish Radio Symphony since 2021, and he is Founder and Principal Conductor of the Aurora Orchestra which is known for performing without music scores. The 2024/25 season sees his debuts with San Francisco Symphony, Munich Philharmonic, and WDR Symphony Orchestra. He has conducted over 250 contemporary works, including many UK or world premieres.
Anna Lapwood from Great Britain is the Palace organist for the 2025/26 season. Not only is she an outstanding organist and conductor and a great ambassador for her instrument, but she also presents television and radio shows, is socially engaged in many ways, and, as a natural communicator, reaches an audience of millions with her cross-platform social media presence. Her programmes include traditional organ repertoire as well as symphonic and film music, often in her own transcriptions.
