About the Concert

Tickets for this event will be available from 12.06.2024 from 10 am.

As different as their music is, both are regarded as saints of sorts: Mozart and the Estonian composer Arvo Pärt have created works that are deeply moving and can lead their listeners into spiritual spheres. At least Mozart's Requiem does for many, and Pärt's choral works also remind us that there is a spiritual world beyond the visible that connects us all. The Dresdner Kreuzchor and the Dresdner Philharmonie continue their tradition of joint concerts with works by both and at the same time commemorate the end of the Second World War 80 years ago.

Biographies

Martin Lehmann

Kreuzkantor

Martin Lehmann has been the 29th Kreuzkantor since fall 2022, making him one of the most renowned positions in Protestant church music. He was a Crucian himself in his childhood and youth and later studied choral and orchestral conducting in Dresden. As assistant to Hans-Christoph Rademann at the Dresden Chamber Choir, he gained important experience during his studies. After working in Leipzig and Wuppertal, he took over the direction of the Windsbach Boys' Choir for ten years in 2012.

Katharina Konradi

Katharina Konradi is a storyteller who embodies her female characters with verve, intimacy, temperament and intensity. The world's first Kyrgyz-born soprano in song, concert and opera has been a member of the Hamburg State Opera ensemble since 2018, but also performs at other leading European opera houses, including as Pamina, Susanna, Ännchen and Sophie. She is also in demand throughout Europe as a concert singer and enjoys singing lieder.

Marie Henriette Reinhold

Mezzo-soprano Marie Henriette Reinhold comes from Leipzig, where she graduated with honours in 2020. Her career has already taken her across Germany, to France, Switzerland and Belgium. In 2019, she made her debut at the Bayreuth Festival, where she can even be heard in four operas in summer 2024. Masterclasses, including with Peter Schreier, gave her valuable insights into Lied interpretation. She has also already taken part in many CD productions.

Patrick Grahl

Patrick Grahl was initially a member of the St. Thomas Boys' Choir and then studied singing, also in his home city of Leipzig. During his studies, the tenor already gained experience on the opera stage. In 2016, he was awarded 1st prize at the Leipzig Bach Competition, which opened doors for him as an oratorio and concert singer. He has already worked with conductors such as Daniele Gatti, Manfred Honeck, Ton Koopman, Andrew Manze, Omer Meir Wellber and Hans-Christoph Rademann.

Krešimir Stražanac

The Croatian bass-baritone Krešimir Stražanac became a member of the Zurich Opera House ensemble at the age of 24, where he remained for seven years. Since then, he has appeared as a freelance singer at numerous opera houses in Europe, Asia and North America. He also gives recitals, e.g. with Schubert's "Winterreise", and tours as a concert singer, working closely with Philippe Herreweghe. In 2023, he was also the soloist in the Berlin Philharmonic's European concert in the Sagrada Familia.

Dresdner Kreuzchor

The Dresden Kreuzchor is one of the oldest and most famous boys' choirs in the world. Even after more than 800 years, one of its most important tasks is to sing in the liturgical services of the Kreuzkirche on Dresden's Altmarkt, where it performs in vespers and church services and regularly gives concerts with outstanding works of sacred music. In addition, the Kruzianer, who have been singing under the direction of Martin Lehmann since 2022, regularly go on tours at home and abroad as cultural ambassadors for Dresden.
