About the Concert

When Daniil Trifonov plays the piano, he seems to quite literally merge with the instrument: with a dreamlike certainty, he elicits from it the most diverse sounds, from the most intimate pianissimo to the most powerful fortissimo. It is no wonder that the Russian, who has been living in New York for a while now, is considered a pianistic prodigy. In 2011, he won two prestigious international competitions: the Rubinstein Piano Competition in Tel Aviv and the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow. Since then, he has been touring the great concert halls of the world, captivating his audience. Daniil Trifonov not only makes a name for himself through his unique piano playing and his own compositions, but also through his unconventional techniques when it comes to practicing: in order to acquire the necessary strength for his fortissimo outbursts, he trains underwater in the swimming pool or lying on the piano bench. Invited by the Dresden Philharmonic in collaboration with DK Deutsche Klassik.
