Anton Bruckner's Third Symphony is not a work for quick effects, but unfolds in large, widely stretched arcs. The composer was an organist, and so the music sometimes sounds as if one were using a gigantic orchestra like an oversized organ, particularly with the powerful sound of the brass instruments. At the first performance, many listeners left the hall during the concert, which is hardly imaginable today. The long pauses and crescendos are not a standstill, but deliberately placed moments of tension. This work is best listened to without haste, allowing the sound to simply take effect.

At our abgeFRACKt concerts, things are somewhat different: The orchestra does not sit in tailcoats on the stage. No one needs to fear clapping at the wrong moment.
Those who wish to learn more about the music can download the free Wolfgang app onto their smartphone and receive live explanations about the work during the concert. Afterwards, we invite you to stay and enjoy the abgeFRACKt cocktail (also non-alcoholic), the house lemonade, a glass of wine or beer at the café "Tutti", to relax and chat with musicians from the orchestra.Anton Bruckner
